Firstly lets try to understand the reasons we would want David and Karen to learn at home versus going to public schools. Lets start with some of the superficial reasons, first one being you do not have to get up at 6:00 am in the morning and get them dressed for school, pack the lunches, give them all your normal instructions and wait for them to get home hoping everything went well that day at school.
Moving on to some of the more important benefits of homeschooling your children. Homeschooling actually will give you much more control over the things that can happen at public schools that could directly affect your children. One of the most important reasons in my mind is the fact that you now have total control of the development of your children. With this the parents are the only people that will be making decisions on what you believe your child needs to be taught or what you want your child to do, this becomes something where you have much more visibility. Being able to decide the homeschool curriculum that best fits your childrens learning needs and/or the interests of the child is probably one of the best benefits of homeschooling.
The average ratio of children to students in most schools is approx one teacher to twenty students. So one of the other benefits of homeschooling is the one on one attention that your child will recieve. Lets just say that one of your children needs more work in english, well now you can adjust the time spent on english to whatever you like as there are no set hours for learning a subject like there is in public schools. What this means is your child will be able to put more hours into a subject that they need more help with without being pressured. Of course the time requirement to learn any subject will totally depend on the individual child.
What happens next is a wonderful thing, the learning of your children now becomes kind of a total family activity where the family becomes involved in just about all steps of the learning curriculum. Also some of the most fun part of homeschooling would be the experiments and the great field trips that you will share with your child, which also means that you will be spending a lot more quality time with your children, which also means that the family will become much closer.
Your child not having to put up with the negative peer pressure within the public school systems is one of the largest benefits of homeschooling. Also because you understand your children more than anyone else you can plan the learning sessions to help keep your child interested and moving forward, one thing that i always like to do is mix the childs difficult schooling activities with something that your child enjoys. for instance you might have an hour of math with your child and then right afterwards you might go on a fieldtrip to a zoo or museum, so now the childs learning becomes much more fun.
When it comes to teaching all ages of children one of the very first thing a teacher needs to do is try to figure out the childs most comfortable learning style, as it differs from one child to the next, lets say Jane learns best by writing, and David learns best when he reads, and then still there is Tony who wants to see it action so he is a visual type learning style, everone has a style in which you learn faster. One of the geat benefits of homeschooling that we are hearing from a lot of home school moms and dads is you now have total control of what your child is being taught when it comes to things like morals and religous beliefs, there will no longer be that confusion that most children fight with when they see the things that they are being taught at home as far as things like i mentioned earlier, but by homeschooling you child now see’s both what is beaing taught and also what is being practiced in the childs enviroment.
In the end there are many many parents today that are very unhappy with our public schools are being run. When it come to public schools most people are on one of two sides, some believe that the child is not getting enough of an education, and the other side which is those that believe the child is getting overworked in scool. One other concern that parents have when it comes to what is being taught in public schools is ethics & discipline. There are many many reasons that parents are choosing to homeschool these days and i believe that homeschooling is the best way for a child in todays world to learn, but remember this requires a lot of your time, so dont start it unless your positive that you have the time so it will benefit your childs education.

Homeschooling is becoming an increasingly popular option with many American families. There are many pressures when learning at public schools which is something that can be avoided when teaching your children at home and of course they can learn at a speed that they are comfortable with. There are however, consequences to schooling your child at home – sometimes it can affect their mental and social development.
Children need friends, usually, they meet their friends in school so take a child out of school and where will they meet potential play partners? Has it ever occurred to you what opinions the other public school children have about children who are homeschooled? They think they are homeschooled due to some psychological problems or behavioral issues or simply because their parents are weird. This makes your child out of the ordinary, and this may make others make fun or tease him. These challenges must be overcome if you want your child to have a positive social life and be able to function amongst their peers when they get to college.
Children who are homeschooled must be permitted to play with other children if they are to grow up well balanced. The following pointers will get you started towards placing your child on the track of a positive social life. Know your neighborhood and start with where you live: How many children of the same age as your child live around your home? Do you know the parents? If no, start today. Seek out parents nearby and let them know you have a child that you’d like to set up a play date. Since you’re the one initiating these meetings, you’re also the one who needs to do the organizing so have a party and hire a clown. Call all the kids in the neighborhood along with their parents and set up a ball game, fishing, bowling or similar activities which kids love and even be prepared to baby sit if necessary.
Sporting activities offer the best opportunities where children bond with each other. Since they play together they also spend a lot of time building a bond, and you too get an opportunity to meet other parents. If your child is physically challenged or would embarrass himself on a playing field, get them involved in activities like Boy/Girl Scouts or any other local organization for children.
Homeschooling children don’t really know phonics. They may need help especially when reading on their own. ClickN’ READ Phonics is one of popular online reading program for children. It is animated online tutoring tool. Each lesson takes about 15 min. Repetition is important to make sure the children comprehend the concepts before moving on the harder stage. If your children has difficulty in reading, then check out ClickN Read Phonics.
Parents around the world praised ClickN’ READ Phonics as being one of the most effective learn to read solutions for children with learning disabilities. As a comprehensive and proven stand-alone direct instruction phonics reading program, it also can be used to greatly enhance instruction provided by schools. It simulates live classroom instruction that provides constant feedback and positive reinforcement.
Do not be so protective that homeschooling prevents your children from enjoying and learning about life outside their home. While it is good to protect your kid from the so-called evils of modern society, remember the child also needs exposure to things which other kids are exposed to. Remember your kid is fighting a lone battle with other kids who think that he is from Mars, imagine his predicament in public when he shows his ignorance about what is hot on TV, what other kids are wearing at parties and which bands are making a mark? If they don’t learn about life outside their home and make other friends they will have a difficult time integrating into the world you so much want them to succeed in.
